Whether you’re looking for a deep dive into station life with Mike and Angie or prefer to find your own rhythm in the red dirt, our outback experiences are designed to be as immersive as they are authentic.
Here are five of the most common questions about how we “play” at Callubri Station.
What is the difference between your ‘All Inclusive’ and ‘Self Contained’ activity packages?
Our Immerse (by room) and Indulge (group) packages are our signature all-inclusive packages, designed for groups of up to 14. These include daily three-hour hosted station tours in our safari-style “Troop Carrier,” where Mike and Angie personally guide you through the property’s 150-year history and current regenerative farming practices. Our self-contained Escape packages are tailored for independent travellers and couples who area after a more relaxed stay; they focus on self-guided exploration, though you can always choose to add a hosted tour or a bespoke experience, like a secluded pine forest picnic, to your itinerary if you’d like a closer look at station life.
Can we get “hands-on” with the farm work during our stay?
Because we are a working 28,500-acre Merino station, our daily tasks are governed by the seasons rather than a schedule. While we aren’t a “farm stay” where you milk cows at 6:00 am, our hosted tours offer a front-row seat to the action. Depending on when you visit, you might see us drafting sheep, checking water points, or operating the large-scale machinery used for our grain harvests. Mike loves a yarn and is always happy to explain the “why” behind what we’re doing—it’s an authentic glimpse into the grit and beauty of modern Australian agriculture.
What exactly is “Moonbathing,” and how do we book it?
Moonbathing is one of our most loved bespoke experiences, designed for ultimate relaxation under the outback’s famous dark skies. We have two outdoor baths setup in a quirky private location and offer a curated selection of artisan spa products from our friends at Native Secrets. To complete the evening, we include plush waffle robes, slippers, and a hand-crafted grazing board filled with local gourmet goodies. It’s a visionary way to experience the silence of the night, best enjoyed with a glass of regional wine as the stars (and the craters of the moon) come into sharp focus.
Are there activities specifically for those interested in photography and art?
Absolutely. The outback light is a literal masterpiece, and we have curated the station to be a haven for creatives. Beyond our self-guided photography access, we host formal Photography Retreats and En Plein Air art workshops for groups. Mike can take you to the “Car Graveyard”—a collection of weathered vintage station vehicles that are a favourite for textures and shadows—or to “The Lookout” for the ultimate golden hour sunset shot. For those who prefer a brush to a lens, the textures of the historic 145-year-old Woolshed provide endless inspiration.
What is “The Lookout,” and why is it a highlight of the Callubri experience?
“The Lookout” is our favourite spot on the property, perched where you can see for hundreds of kilometres across the wild Western Plains. It is the destination for our “Sundowners” experience. There is nothing quite like standing on the ridge with a refreshing beverage and Chef Angie’s seasonal canapés, watching the outback sun dip below the horizon. It’s the perfect bookend to a day of adventure and the spot where most of our guests truly feel the vastness and soul of the Australian countryside.
