We have 6000 covers ahead of us, over 17 days and this collaborative crew of bush chefs cannot wait to get their hands busy! The eagles have departed (our mobile kitchens) and we will soon be coming to you (not quite live) from the heart of the Aussie Outback on the Mundi Mundi Plains. What an incredible opportunity. Thanks to the team from @mundimundibash for trusting our team of 'locals' to nourish the crew. Has anyone done a Citizen Science project before? Has anyone done a Citizen Science project before? Earlier this year we put our hands up to install some Bat Detectors for a few weeks and the results have just come through! Our detectors found: Two Vulnerable Species: Chalinolobus picatus Little Pied Bat Saccolaimus flaviventris Yellow-bellied Sheath-tailed Bat Eight Common Species: Austronomus australis White-striped Free-tailed Bat Chalinolobus gouldii Gould's Wattled Bat Nyctophilus sp. Long-eared Bat species Ozimops petersi Inland Free-tailed Bat Scotorepens balstoni Inland Broad-nosed Bat Scotorepens greyii Little Broad-nosed Bat Vespadelus vulturnus Little Forest Bat Chalinolobus morio Chocolate Wattled Bat We always find these little guys hiding in the big umbrellas and have even had a few in the house on occasion but I was so surprised to see just how many we have in our little corner of the bush! Must be all the yummy things to eat in our kitchen garden- we don't mind there is plenty to go around. Just don't tell too many of your furry winged friends please! The citrus is ripe and we are in full swing producing garnishes, marmalades, cordials and of course our next batch of the most delicious home made chicken salt using our home grown Lemon Myrtle!
