The Station Lowdown

Callubri Station is located in central west NSW, Australia, between Nyngan, Tottenham and Nevertire. By road it is approximately 2 hours west of Dubbo. The station is just over a 1hr private charter flight from Sydney, and 1.5hrs from most other capital cities, making it one of the most accessible outback experiences in Australia!

Guests can arrive by private air charter with a plane or helicopter, take a commercial flight to Dubbo and hire a car for the 2hr drive or arrive by road. We have a number of contacts with plane and helicopter companies in all capital cities as well as the regions of Orange, Mudgee, Griffith and Dubbo so please just ask if you would like us to assist.

The journey is part of the experience! The property is located exactly halfway between Sydney and Broken Hill which makes a wonderful road trip through the heritage listed Blue Mountains, the wine regions of Orange and Mudgee, the Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo and the endless horizons and starry skies of the Australian outback.

Each season offers something special! Autumn and spring provide mild temperatures and vibrant landscapes, while winter offers crisp mornings and cosy, fireside dining. Summer sunsets are spectacular, perfect for evening canapés and stargazing. But keep in mind temperatures from November to February can reach mid 40 degrees (celsius)! A great time for swimming in the mineral pool!

All our tours are ‘safari’ style aboard our trusty Landcruiser Troop Carrier! Explore the red dirt tracks of outback Australia and you will be sure to see red and grey kangaroos, and if you are lucky some emus, echidnas, goannas, foxes, hares, wild pigs and of course a few thousand sheep! Stroll alongside farmer Mike through the hand chiseled timbers of our original 1800s ‘Callubri’ woolshed as he expertly relays the rich history of Merino wool production. You will also see our modern woolshed and learn about the production of Merino wool from paddock to garment. Learn about broadacre cropping and the huge machinery used to sow and harvest the grain. Wander through our cropping fields and learn about the production of premium bread wheat, oats, lupins, canola and barley. Our morning tours include a luxurious ploughman’s grazing lunch and the pinnacle of our afternoon tours is sundowner drinks and canapes at ‘The Lookout’.

We love our guests to get involved on one of our hosted farm tours! See first-hand how a working family farm in outback Australia operates, and of course ask plenty of questions. We aim to offer guests a truly authentic farm experience and all our tours showcase the activities that are happening on the station at that time of year. Our All-Inclusive Group ‘Stay and Play’ packages include one three-hour hosted station tour each day exploring a different aspect of farm life. These tours can also be added to our self-contained ‘Escape’ packages for an additional cost, and are highly recommended. All our tours are guided by one of the owners of the station; self-taught chef and foodie Angie Armstrong and fourth generation owner of the property Mike Armstrong. Mike has a degree in Agri-Finance and an unparalleled passion for the land that has been in his family for over 145 years! Be sure to come armed with lots of questions!
